Formed in the fall of 1988, the Council is comprised of individuals and organizations working together to exchange information, coordinate calendar events, avoid duplication of group projects, and encourage the preservation and accessibility of records of genealogical and historical value.
Membership is open to organizations and individuals interested in promoting genealogy and history research and knowledge. Annual dues are $25 for organizations and $15 for individuals, payable in January. Contact Gwen Myers for further information.
As a service to the genealogical and historical organizations in the northern California area, the Council compiles a list of speakers willing to speak to the organizations. The cost for a copy is $8.00 for non-Council societies and $5.00 for Council members. They will be available at the Council exhibit table at Family History Day. In addition, a local research sources brochure is published.
